A dead rubber is a match played after a series result is decided. One team has already won the majority of the matches in the set. This game does not change the final outcome of the overall trophy. It provides an opportunity for teams to test new young players in squad. The pressure is usually lower than in the earlier high stakes matches. Both sides still play for pride and individual statistics during this final game. Fans still attend to support their favorite national players and the sport itself. A team wins the third match after losing the first two games. Maintaining high energy is difficult when the series win is already gone.
