Loft over infield refers to a shot where the batter hits the ball high into the air. The ball travels over the heads of the fielders who stand inside the thirty yard circle. This aggressive move aims to find the open spaces in the deep part of the outfield. It carries a high risk because a fielder might catch the ball if it falls short. A batter saw the mid off fielder standing close and hit the ball over them. This tactic helps break a defensive field setting by forcing the captain to move fielders back. Players must time the jump of the ball perfectly to clear the reaching arms of defenders. Successful execution of this shot often results in four runs or even a six. Using this technique requires great confidence and a very strong swing of the cricket bat.
