Change of Pace Meaning in Cricket

Change of pace refers to a deliberate variation in the speed of the bowling delivery. A bowler alternates between fast balls and slow balls to ruin the batter’s timing. This tactic is especially effective when the batter is trying to hit every ball. The slow ball often arrives much later than the batter expects during their swing. A bowler used a change of pace to trick the batter into missing. This skill requires the bowler to keep their arm speed exactly the same always. Batters must watch the hand very closely to detect any change in the release. Effective use of this technique can lead to many easy wickets for the team. It remains a primary weapon for bowlers in the short formats of the game.
