Cross Meaning in Football

A cross in football refers to a pass delivered from a wide area of the pitch, usually from the flanks, aimed toward teammates positioned closer to the opponent’s goal to create a scoring opportunity; players use crosses to exploit space in the penalty area and challenge defenders and goalkeepers, and these balls can be driven low along the ground or lofted high into the box depending on the attacking intent and position of teammates.
