A dummy in football is a feint or deceptive move where a player intentionally lets the ball run past them or pretends to control or receive a pass in order to deceive an opponent and create space for themselves or a teammate.
This trick draws defenders toward the apparent ball carrier and opens passing or dribbling opportunities, and it can be particularly effective in tight situations where a quick change in direction or decision is required to maintain possession or create an attacking advantage.
