A half volley is a delivery that bounces on the ground and is hit by the batter almost immediately after it rises. This is often the easiest type of ball to hit for a boundary because the batter can use a full, powerful swing.
Example: The batter saw the half volley coming and drove it straight past the bowler for a magnificent four runs. Pro-Tip: Bowlers try to avoid throwing half volleys because they are the most common balls for batters to punish with big hits.
