A leg break is the standard delivery from a leg-spin bowler that turns sharply from the leg side toward the off side after hitting the pitch. For a right-handed batter, the ball appears to be heading toward their legs but then spins away to beat the outside edge of the bat.
Example: The spinner took a wicket with a classic leg break that pitched on the middle stump and hit the top of the off stump.
Pro-Tip: This is one of the hardest styles to master because it requires a difficult wrist-flicking motion. However, a perfectly executed leg break is nearly impossible to hit because the late change in direction confuses the batter’s footwork and timing.
