The corridor, often called the ‘corridor of uncertainty,’ is a narrow area just outside the batter’s off stump. Bowlers aim for this spot because it forces the batter to hesitate between playing a defensive shot or leaving the ball alone, often resulting in a catch.
Example: The bowler was rewarded for his persistence after landing five consecutive balls in the corridor and finally forcing an edge.
Pro-Tip: This is the most difficult area for any batter to manage because the ball is too close to ignore but too wide to hit safely. Success in this zone defines the battle between the world’s best opening bowlers and the most technical top-order batters.
