A libero in volleyball is a defensive specialist. This player wears a different colored jersey. The libero focuses on passing and digging. Libero players cannot attack at the net. They also cannot serve in many leagues.
Therefore, they anchor the defense. Quick reactions define the role. Communication stays constant. For example, a hard spike heads toward the back court. The libero reads it early. He dives and digs the ball cleanly. The team saves the rally because of the libero.
