Ceiling Violation Meaning in Volleyball

A ceiling violation in volleyball occurs indoors. The ball touches the ceiling illegally. Some leagues allow ceiling contact on one side. Others do not. Rules depend on the competition level.

Players must know local rules. Awareness prevents easy points. For example, a defender bumps the ball high. It hits the ceiling above the court. The referee stops play. The opponent earns the point. That stoppage counts as a ceiling violation.
