A backcourt player is any player positioned behind the attack line. These players focus on defense and passing. They cannot block or attack above the net in front. Therefore, rule awareness matters. Beginners sometimes forget attack restrictions.

During a rally, a backcourt player receives a set behind the line. She jumps and attacks legally. The ball scores cleanly. Later, she steps forward and attacks illegally.

The referee whistles immediately. Backcourt players support the offense through passing and smart attacks. They also anchor defense. Strong backcourt play balances the team. These players keep plays legal and effective.
