Turbocharger Meaning in Formula 1

A turbocharger increases engine power using exhaust gases. Spinning exhaust drives a turbine. That turbine forces more air into the engine. More air allows more fuel to burn. This creates stronger combustion. For example on a straight the turbo boosts acceleration. Smaller engines still produce high power. Turbochargers improve efficiency and speed together. However they generate intense heat. Careful cooling prevents damage during races.
