Understeer Meaning in Formula 1

Understeer occurs when the front tires lose grip first. The car refuses to turn as much as expected. It pushes wide toward the outside of the corner. Steering more does not increase rotation. Understeer often happens with excessive entry speed. For example, braking too late into a turn can cause it. The front tires slide across the surface. Drivers may need to slow down to regain grip. Setup changes can reduce understeer. Balanced handling improves corner precision.
