Out-braking is overtaking by braking later than a rival. The attacking driver delays braking into a corner. This allows him to move ahead before turn-in. It requires confidence and control. For example, a driver stays close on a straight. He brakes slightly later into the corner. If done correctly, he gains the inside line. However, braking too late can cause a lock-up. Successful out-braking creates clean overtakes.
