The racing line is the fastest path around the track. Drivers follow it to maximize speed. It uses wide entry and smooth exit angles. This line reduces cornering distance and improves acceleration. For example, a driver moves wide before turning in. He clips the apex and exits wide again. Rubber builds up along this path. Grip is usually strongest there. Consistently following the racing line lowers lap times.
