A serve starts every point in tennis. The server tosses the ball and hits it into the opposite service box. The ball must land inside the correct area. If it does, the rally begins. The serve gives the player control of the first shot. Players use speed, spin, and placement to gain advantage. For example, a player serves wide to pull the opponent off court. The rally opens with space available. A strong serve sets the tone for each point.
