First Serve Meaning in Tennis

A first serve is the server’s first attempt to start a point. Players often hit this serve with more speed and risk. They aim for power or sharp angles. If it lands in, the server gains an advantage. If it misses, the player gets a second chance. For example, a player hits a fast serve into the corner. The opponent barely touches the ball. That strong first serve puts pressure on every return. Players rely on it to win easy points.
