A drop shot is a soft shot that barely clears the net. The ball lands close to the net on the opponent’s side. Players use it to surprise opponents standing far back. Touch and control matter more than power. The swing stays gentle and precise. For example, during a long rally, a player notices space near the net. They lightly tap a drop shot. The opponent sprints forward but arrives too late. Drop shots change pace and disrupt rhythm.
