A grass court is a tennis surface made of natural grass. Groundskeepers cut it very short and keep it firm. The ball moves fast and stays low after bouncing. Points often end quickly on this surface. Players rely heavily on strong serves and quick reactions. Movement can feel slippery compared to other courts. Therefore balance and foot control become important. Grass courts reward aggressive net play. For example a player may serve and rush forward immediately. Their opponent has little time to react. Rallies usually stay short and sharp. Weather can affect grass more than other surfaces. In short grass creates fast paced and unpredictable matches.
