No-ad scoring is a faster way to play a game where the first player to win four points wins. In traditional tennis, you must win a game by at least two points after reaching a deuce. In no-ad scoring, there is no advantage point after the score reaches forty-forty. Instead, the very next point decided by a single serve wins the entire game for either player. The receiver usually gets to choose which side of the court they want to return the serve from. This format is designed to shorten matches and make the timing more predictable for broadcasters. It creates high-drama moments because one mistake can end the game instantly. For example, at a deuce in a doubles match, the server must win this one point or lose the game. This removes long, repetitive deuce cycles that can sometimes last ten minutes or more. It rewards players who can perform best under extreme, sudden pressure. This system is popular in college tennis and professional doubles.
