The deuce court is the right side of the tennis court from the perspective of the player facing the net. Every game starts with a serve from this side of the baseline into the opponent’s right service box. Points played when the score is love-love, fifteen-all, or deuce always begin from this right-hand side. It is the most common starting position for any point during a standard tennis match. For right-handed players, this side is usually easier for hitting wide serves into the corner. In doubles, the player who is more consistent or has a better forehand often takes the deuce court. For example, when the score is thirty-fifteen, the player moves back to the deuce court because the total number of points played is odd. Knowing your position on the court helps keep the match moving smoothly and prevents confusion about the score. It is the foundation of the alternating serve system used in every official tennis competition around the world.
