A descent is any part of a road or trail that goes downhill. These sections allow cyclists to reach high speeds using only the power of gravity. You should keep your weight centered and use both brakes gently to control your speed. Turning while descending requires leaning the bike and looking far through the corner. For example, a cyclist reaches the summit of a mountain and begins a thrilling ten-mile descent. They tuck their elbows in and glide through the curves to maximize their speed toward the valley. It is the perfect payoff after a difficult and sweaty uphill climb.
