Stack is a standardized geometry measurement that represents the vertical distance from the bottom bracket to the top of the head tube. Unlike traditional frame sizing, stack provides a consistent way to compare the height of different bike models. It tells you exactly how high the frame’s front end is, which dictates how aggressive or upright the bike will be.
For example, an endurance road bike will have a much higher stack than a dedicated racing frame. This measurement ignores the length of the seat tube, which can be misleading due to different frame designs.
By looking at the stack and reach together, you can determine if a bike will fit your body perfectly. It is the gold standard for modern bike fitting and ensures you get the right size every time. Knowing your preferred stack measurement makes shopping for a new frame much easier and more predictable.
