A flush deck describes a boat design where the deck is a single, continuous flat surface from the bow to the stern without a raised cabin house (coachroof). This design provides a very clean, unobstructed area for the crew to move around and work the sails. It is common on racing yachts and some traditional large sailing ships because it lowers the boat’s center of gravity and reduces wind resistance.
