Foot Recovery Meaning in Weightlifting

Foot recovery describes the process of returning the feet to a parallel standing position. This movement occurs after a lifter completes a split jerk with the feet apart. The athlete must move the front foot back halfway and the back foot forward. Following this specific sequence ensures the heavy weight stays balanced directly over the body. The lifter must hold the bar steady until the feet are side by side. Referees will only give a successful signal once the feet reach this stable finish. A lifter carefully slides their front foot back to complete a clean and jerk. Moving the feet in the correct order prevents the barbell from drifting or shaking.
