Jury Meaning in Weightlifting

A jury consists of three or five high-ranking officials who oversee the entire weightlifting competition. These experts monitor the decisions made by the three referees on the platform during every lift. They possess the power to reverse a referee decision if a clear technical error occurs. The jury overturned a failed lift ruling because the referees missed a complete elbow lockout. This group ensures that all participants follow the official rules throughout the duration of the event. Their presence provides a final level of accountability for both the athletes and the officiating crew.
