Looped Bar Path Meaning in Weightlifting

A looped bar path happens when the barbell travels in a curved arc away from the body. This technical error occurs if the lifter swings the weight forward instead of pulling it upward. Moving the bar too far away makes the lift much harder to catch and balance. The coach noticed the looped path when the lifter jumped forward to catch the heavy snatch. Keeping the bar close to the chest ensures the most direct and efficient route for the weight. Correcting this movement involves using the arms to pull the bar vertically after the leg drive.
