Muscle Clean Meaning in Weightlifting

The muscle clean is a strength exercise where the lifter pulls the bar without dropping low. This movement requires the arms to pull the weight all the way to the shoulders. The athlete must stand tall and use only their upper body to finish the lift. A beginner practiced this drill to learn how to turn their elbows over quickly. Doing this exercise builds the necessary arm and back strength for the full clean. Avoiding the leg dip forces the muscles to work harder during the entire pulling phase.
