The muscle snatch involves pulling a barbell from the floor to overhead in one motion. This version forbids the lifter from bending their knees to catch the weight in a squat. The athlete uses pure upper body strength to press the bar into the final position. A weightlifter performed this movement to strengthen their shoulders for the competitive snatch lift. Keeping the bar close to the face ensures a safe and efficient path to the top. This drill improves the timing and power of the final pull during a workout.
