Recovery Meaning in Weightlifting

Recovery defines the phase where a lifter stands up and stabilizes a weight after a successful catch. This movement requires the athlete to bring their feet back together while holding the bar steady overhead. The lift is only complete when the athlete shows total control and waits for the signal. The lifter finished the recovery by stepping forward and standing still with the heavy barbell. Maintaining a tight grip during this phase prevents the weight from swinging and causing a foul. Consistent leg strength is necessary to stand up from a deep squat with a maximum load.
