Time Limit Meaning in Weightlifting

The time limit refers to the strictly monitored clock that dictates when an athlete must lift. Every lifter usually has exactly one minute to begin their attempt after being called. If an athlete follows themselves on the platform, the clock increases to two minutes for recovery. Failing to start the lift before the clock reaches zero results in a missed attempt. A buzzer sounds to warn the athlete when only thirty seconds remain on the timer. This rule ensures that the competition moves at a steady pace for the audience. Athletes must manage their warm up carefully to step out before time expires.
