A training cycle consists of a planned period of weeks or months dedicated to specific goals. Coaches organize these blocks to help the athlete peak for a major competition or event. The cycle usually begins with high volume and lower weights to build a solid base. As the meet nears, the volume drops while the intensity and weight on the bar increase. An athlete completes a twelve week cycle to prepare for the state championship in July. This structured approach prevents overtraining and ensures the lifter makes steady and safe progress.
