Volume load measures the total amount of work a weightlifter completes during a single training session. This value is calculated by multiplying the weight lifted by the total number of repetitions performed. Tracking this number helps coaches understand the physical stress placed on the athlete’s body over time. Increasing this load gradually allows the lifter to build muscle and endurance without causing sudden injury. An athlete lifts one hundred kilograms for five sets of five reps to reach a heavy load. This metric provides a more accurate picture of training intensity than just looking at the heaviest weight. Consistent monitoring ensures that the athlete progresses steadily toward their specific strength goals throughout the year.
