Court awareness is the mental ability to understand the dimensions and lines of the pickleball court. This skill helps a player know their location and the location of their partner at all times. Strong awareness allows an athlete to leave balls alone that are going to land out. A player stands still and lets a fast ball fly past because they know it is out. This sense of space prevents wasted energy on shots that do not require a physical return. Developing this instinct takes time but leads to much smarter decision making during a competitive match.
