Drive and dish describes attacking penetration followed by a pass. An attacker drives strongly toward the circle. Defenders collapse to stop the drive. The attacker then passes to a teammate. This action creates open shooting space. Timing determines success of the dish pass. Quick footwork initiates the drive effectively. Teammates anticipate movement toward the post. During play the wing attack drives inward sharply. Two defenders step forward to block her path. She quickly dishes the ball to the shooter. The shooter gains space for a clear attempt. Coaches rehearse drive and dish sequences often. Effective execution breaks compact defences.
