Goal Circle Meaning in Netball

The goal circle is a semi-circle area at each end of the netball court. Only the goal shooter and goal attack from the attacking team may enter this space. Scoring a point requires the player to have at least one foot inside this line. The radius of this area measures exactly 4.9 meters from the center of the goal line. Defenders try to push attackers away from the post to make shooting more difficult. Keeping the space clear allows for better movement and easier passing between the two scoring players. This zone is the most contested part of the court during a competitive match. One real-world example features a goal shooter catching a high pass while standing inside the goal circle.
