Goal Shooter Meaning in Netball

The goal shooter is the primary scoring player who stays inside the attacking goal third. This role focuses almost entirely on finding space within the goal circle to shoot. They must have excellent hand-eye coordination and a very high level of shooting accuracy. Unlike other positions, the goal shooter rarely leaves the area near the opponent’s goal. A goal shooter holds their position under the post to wait for a rebound. They work in tandem with the goal attack to create passing sequences near the ring. Strength is often needed to maintain a spot against a physical goal keeper. One real-world example involves a goal shooter catching a lob and shooting a goal.
