Post Player Meaning in Netball

A post player is a shooter who primarily operates very close to the goal ring area. This athlete focuses on holding their position and catching passes directly under or near the post. They must be physically strong to resist the pressure from the goal keeper behind them. Most post players have excellent height and a very high shooting percentage from short range. A goal shooter acts as the primary post player for the team during the entire match. Their main job is to provide a reliable target for midcourt players to find with passes. Effective post players use their bodies to shield the ball and create easy scoring opportunities. One real-world example features a tall shooter catching a high ball and scoring a simple goal.
