A throw in is a method of restarting play after the ball goes out of bounds. The player taking the throw must stand with their feet behind the sideline or goal line. They have three seconds to pass the ball to a teammate who is inside the court. This restart is awarded to the team that did not touch the ball last before it exited. A wing defence takes a sideline throw in to find an open center in the middle. All other players must stay at least zero point nine meters away from the person throwing. It is a great chance to set up a planned play and gain ground toward the goal. One real-world example shows a player passing from the baseline to a shooter in the circle.
