The top of circle refers to the curved area at the very edge of the goal circle furthest from the post. This region is a critical tactical spot for midcourt players to stand while feeding the shooters. Attackers use this position to gain a clear view of the entire scoring area and all available passing lanes. Standing here allows a player to deliver accurate passes to either the goal attack or goal shooter. A center waits at the top of circle to receive a reset pass from a teammate. Defenders often try to crowd this area to prevent the offensive team from setting up their play. Controlling this space is key to a structured and successful entry into the shooting zone. One real-world example involves a wing attack passing from the edge of the circle to the shooter.
