Definition: An out occurs when the defensive team successfully removes a batter or base runner from play during an inning. Once a team records three outs, their turn at bat ends and they must switch to playing defense.
Example: The outfielder caught the high fly ball for the second out of the inning, leaving the team with only one chance left to score.
