Jump Throw Meaning in Dodgeball

A jump throw is an advanced move where a player launches while airborne. This technique adds downward momentum and a unique angle to the ball’s flight. A player leaps high and throws the ball at a stooping opponent’s feet. Jumping allows the thrower to see over the hands of a blocking defender. This move requires great timing to release the ball at the highest point. It also leaves the thrower vulnerable because they cannot move while in the air. Players must land safely to avoid twisting an ankle or stepping out of bounds. Using a jump throw can surprise a defense that expects a flat toss.
