Simultaneous Hit Meaning in Dodgeball

A simultaneous hit occurs when two players strike each other at the exact same time. This rare event happens when both athletes release their balls in a very close window. Two players throw and both balls hit their targets before either ball touches the floor. In most official rules both of these players are ruled out of the game. The officials must watch closely to determine if one hit occurred before the other hit. This situation often happens during high intensity one on one duels at the center line. It requires a reset of the game if these were the last two players active. Simultaneous hits demonstrate the fast and reactive nature of a competitive dodgeball match round.
