A slapper is a specific type of hitter who uses the slapping technique. These players are almost always left handed and possess incredible running speed on field. They focus on making contact rather than hitting the ball for high power. The goal of a slapper is to reach first base before the defense. A slapper bunts the ball and reaches first base in under three seconds. This speed forces the defense to rush every play and make more errors. Slappers are very difficult to defend because they can hit to any spot. They often lead the team in stolen bases and total runs scored. Coaches value slappers for their ability to create chaos for the opposing defense.
