Bounce Shot Meaning in Handball

A bounce shot is a scoring attempt where the ball hits the floor before entering. The player throws the ball with a downward trajectory toward the area in front of the goal. This movement makes the path of the ball difficult for the goalkeeper to predict. The ball often gains unexpected speed or changes angle after hitting the court surface. High bounces can travel over the goalkeeper’s legs or under their reaching arms. An attacker throws a hard bounce shot that skips past the goalkeeper’s right foot. This strategy works well against tall goalkeepers who struggle to reach low shots quickly. Players must choose the correct spot on the floor to ensure a successful bounce. Most bounce shots occur from the wing or the center during a fast break. This variety in shooting styles keeps the opposing defense and goalkeeper constantly guessing.
