Dribbling is the act of bouncing the ball on the floor while moving. A player uses one hand to push the ball down and catch it. This skill allows the attacker to travel more than the three step limit. Players must not use two hands to bounce or catch and bounce. This violation is called a double dribble and results in a turnover. A wing player dribbles the ball down the sideline during a break. This movement allows them to reach the goal area from the center line. Good dribbling requires the player to keep their head up to see teammates. Most elite players prefer passing over dribbling because it is faster and safer. Practice focuses on controlling the ball with either hand while running at speed.
