A jump throw is a shooting technique where the player releases the ball midair. The attacker sprints toward the goal and leaps off one foot to gain height. Jumping allows the shooter to throw over the heads of the defensive block. The player must release the ball before their feet touch the court floor again. This is the most common way to score goals in professional handball matches. A player leaps high and throws the ball into the top corner of net. This movement provides a better angle and more power for the offensive scoring attempt. Success depends on the timing of the jump and the strength of the arm. High jump throws are very difficult for goalkeepers to predict and save during play. Training focuses on explosive leg power to maximize the height of every jump throw.
