Left Back Meaning in Handball

The left back is a powerful offensive player who stands on the left side. This position usually belongs to tall players with very strong long-range shooting abilities. The left back operates between the left wing and the center back playmaker. They are responsible for scoring goals from outside the nine meter free throw line. In defense, this player must block the opposing right-side attackers with physical strength. A left back jumps high to shoot over the defense from ten meters. This role requires the ability to drive toward the goal and pass accurately. Teams rely on the left back to provide consistent scoring pressure throughout the match. Great left backs combine physical power with tactical awareness to break down organized defenses. They often lead the team in total shots taken during a professional game.
