A running throw is a shooting technique performed while the player is in motion. Unlike the jump shot the player keeps at least one foot on the floor. This throw uses the momentum of the run to generate power and speed. It is often used to surprise the goalkeeper with a quick and early release. The player must coordinate their steps to ensure the ball leaves before the foul. An attacker executes a running throw from ten meters to catch the goalie off. This shot is particularly effective during fast breaks when the defense is still retreating. Players must maintain a strong core to keep the shot accurate while sprinting forward. Training focuses on the three-step rhythm to maximize the velocity of the handball. The running throw adds variety to an attacker’s scoring skills during a match.
