Platform Height Meaning in Diving

Platform height refers to the distance between the water surface and the diving tower. Official competitions utilize standardized heights of five, seven and a half, and ten meters. The ten-meter level is the standard for all major international and Olympic diving events. Higher levels provide the athlete with more time to perform complex aerial maneuvers. However, the increased height also results in much faster speeds during the water entry. One example of platform height is the ten-meter tower used in world finals. Divers must adjust their timing based on which specific level they are using currently. Safety regulations require the pool to be deeper for these higher starting positions.
